What Makes Texas Roadhouse Seasoned Rice Better Than Other Seasoned Rice?

This was inspired by my other recipe on this site, and pairs well with this amazing sidedish recipe. Contextual, in-content links are far more valuable than a group listed at the bottom of the post.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rice
  • ½ cup Butter
  • 4 cups Chicken Broth
  • 1 tablespoon Smoked Paprika
  • 2 tablespoon Dried Parsley
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • ½ cup Soy Sauce low sodium
  • ½ teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Minced Garlic

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the butter completely until it begins to sizzle.
  • Add the uncooked rice to the pan. Stir frequently and cook for 4–6 minutes until the rice turns golden brown and develops a nutty aroma.
  • Mix in the chopped onion and minced garlic for another 2 to 3 minutes. Then add paprika, dried parsley, garlic powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and soy sauce. Stir everything together until the rice is evenly coated with the seasonings.
  • Slowly pour in the chicken broth and give everything a good stir to combine.
  • Increase the heat and bring the mixture to a rolling boil.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to low. Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and simmer for 22 to 25 minutes, or until most of the liquid has been absorbed.
  • Turn off the heat, but keep the pan covered. Let the rice sit undisturbed for 5 more minutes to steam and finish cooking.
  • Remove the lid and fluff the rice gently with a fork. Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve warm as a side dish with your favorite main course. Enjoy!

Recipe Tips

For the best texture and flavor, toast your rice in butter before adding liquid. This step enhances the flavor and keeps the grains fluffy instead of sticky.
