This garlic butter beef and rice skillet is one of those meals I make when I want comfort without a lot of cleanup. I start by browning ground beef with onions until everything is rich and savory, then I layer in garlic, herbs, and spices that instantly fill the kitchen with that warm, cozy smell. As the rice simmers in beef broth, it absorbs all those flavors and turns perfectly tender. Once the cheeses and milk are stirred in, the whole dish transforms into a creamy, cheesy skillet that feels indulgent but still simple. Every bite is loaded with beefy flavor, buttery garlic, and just enough herbs to balance out the richness.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 cup Rice uncooked
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh Parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Season Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 4 to 5 Garlic Cloves minced
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme
  • ½ teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 2 to 3 tablespoon Butter
  • 2 cup Beef Broth

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the ground beef and chopped onion, breaking the beef apart as it cooks. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until the beef is browned and the onions are soft.
  • Add the minced garlic, thyme, smoked paprika, season salt, and black pepper. Stir and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Stir in the uncooked rice and pour in the beef broth. Mix well and bring everything to a gentle boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 18 to 20 minutes until the rice is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
  • Stir in the remaining butter, milk, parmesan cheese, and cheddar cheese. Cook uncovered for a few minutes, stirring gently, until the cheese is fully melted and the skillet is creamy.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving warm.

Recipe Tips

For extra flavor, use freshly grated cheese instead of pre-shredded. It melts smoother and gives the skillet a creamier texture without clumping.
