Cabbage and Ground Beef
Ingredients
- 1 pound Ground Beef
- ½ Head of Cabbage shredded
- 1 Onion diced
- 2 Garlic Cloves chopped
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
- ½ teaspoon Smoked Paprika
- 1 Bouillon Cube crushed
- ¼ teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
- 1 cup Beef Broth
- 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar
- Fresh parsley to garnish
- 1 14.5 oz Diced Tomatoes
- ¼ teaspoon Red Chili Flakes
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat 1–2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add diced onion to the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
- Add ground beef to the pan. Use a wooden spoon to break it apart as it cooks. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until browned and fully cooked through. Drain any excess fat if needed.
- Sprinkle in crushed bouillon cube, cumin, smoked paprika, black pepper, and diced tomatoes. Stir well to evenly coat the meat with the spices.
- Toss in the shredded cabbage and pour in the beef broth. Stir everything together so the cabbage is well-mixed with the beef.
- Cover the skillet and let the mixture simmer on medium-low heat for 8 to 10 minutes. Stir occasionally. The cabbage should soften and slightly caramelize.
- Once the cabbage is tender, stir in the soy sauce and apple cider vinegar (if using). Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Remove the skillet from the heat. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot and enjoy your savory, one-pan meal.
